Our fiscal sponsorship program will aid black and brown filmmakers and multimedia creators in their efforts in securing funding for their programs that require a non-profit or tax deductible donation by providing a often much needed fiscal sponsor. Although we will still have a criteria all approved applicants must meet, we want to reduce this barrier of entry and allow more creators the opportunity to apply or seek out such funding sources in those key early stages of their career by providing a fiscal sponsor program to black and brown creators in the Southeast.
Q: When can I apply to the fiscal sponsorship program?
A: We hope to launch our fiscal sponsor program mid-2024 once our 501c3 status is approved.
Q: Who can apply to the fiscal sponsorship program?
A: We will provide fiscal sponsorships to documentary filmmakers, journalists (written or audio), and photojournalists based in the Southeast for work by and about black and brown communities.
Q: What states do you consider the Southeast?
A: We accept applications for our fiscal sponsor program from black and brown creators who live in 10 Southern states: Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida.
Q: Does the story itself have to be about something in those 10 Southern states?
A: No, the applicant is only required to be based in one of those states. The story however must be about black and brown communities in some fashion.
Q: Will there be a fee for the fiscal sponsorship program?
A: Yes. We will have a $35 application fee, a 7% administrative fee for any grants or contributions for supported projects, and a annual administrative fee for those who wish to remain active in the program each calendar year.
Q: What other requirements will there be for applying to the fiscal sponsor program?
A: We will outline these details soon.
Q: Do you offer any services with your fiscal sponsor program?
A: The fiscal sponsorship program will be the only program we offer for projects other than our own for the foreseeable future.
Q: Is there anything special that you can provide that separates you from other fiscal sponsor programs?
A: We are founded by a person of color based in the Southeast with the mission to help other people of color. There are other fiscal sponsor programs out there, so ultimately it's up to what makes sense for you needs and your values.
Q: I'm a black or brown creator but I'm co-producing the project with a non-person of color, can I still apply?
A: We understand many projects require collaboration and partnerships. The specifics of partnership terms to be accept in the fiscal sponsor program will be outlined as we develop our program structure before our official launch.
